LINEAMIENTOS DE LA CONVOCATORIA ARTE EN ESCALA URBANA SEXTA EDICIÓN

Benito Greene Arte Público los invita a participar en la convocatoria de Arte en Escala Urbana 6a Edición. Pueden participar artistas de todas las trayectorias, nacionalidades y edades.

SOBRE BENITO GREENE

Benito Greene Arte Público surge en 2019 con el propósito de llevar el arte contemporáneo a la comunidad juarense. Utilizando elementos urbanos existentes, Benito Greene presenta el arte público de una forma orgánica y casual, en este caso sobre los lienzos de carteleras espectaculares.

Este proyecto busca exhibir obras artísticas que evoquen la experiencia de observar y vivir en las múltiples fronteras físicas y simbólicas. Por ello, en este proyecto es fundamental impulsar el trabajo de artistas emergentes de todas las nacionalidades e interesados en explorar el potencial del arte público.

Benito Greene Arte Público se ha dado a la tarea de facilitar la interacción de la comunidad de Ciudad Juárez contribuyendo a su diversidad y resiliencia.

TEMÁTICA

Para su sexta edición de Arte en Escala Urbana, Benito Greene Arte Público invita a artistas a presentar obras que exploren el “cambio de forma” en sus múltiples manifestaciones: físicas, emocionales, culturales y metafóricas. El “cambio de forma” encarna la fluidez de la existencia, el poder transformador de moverse entre mundos y la constante evolución de la identidad y la forma. Ya sea a partir de experiencias personales, mitología o procesos materiales, esta convocatoria abierta alienta a los artistas a investigar los límites entre el yo, el mundo físico y los espacios que habitamos. Desde la subversión de identidades convencionales, hasta la transformación de apariencias en sueños y rituales, y la reconfiguración de entornos construidos, el “cambio de forma” refleja tanto complejidad como resiliencia. Buscamos obras que desafíen la percepción, desafíen las etiquetas fijas e inviten a los espectadores a reconsiderar qué es real, qué es imaginado y qué es posible.

¿QUIÉN PUEDE APLICAR?

Pueden aplicar artistas de todas las trayectorias, experiencia y medios. Para su elección no se considerará nacionalidad o edad.

¿POR QUÉ APLICAR?

Las y los artistas seleccionados exhibirán su trabajo en carteleras espectaculares en las vialidades más importantes de Ciudad Juárez; donde las obras serán vistas en promedio por más de 25,000 personas al día provenientes de las ciudades fronterizas de Juárez y El Paso, Texas. 

LINEAMIENTOS

Fecha límite de recepción de proyectos: 17 de Marzo de 2025, antes de las 11:59 PM hora de Ciudad Juárez (MDT).

Benito Greene Arte Público permite todas las técnicas artísticas. Las obras deberán ser entregadas en un archivo digital que será impreso e instalado en un anuncio espectacular al aire libre. Las obras deben ser trabajos originales y las y los artistas deben tener los derechos de su obra.

La dimensión del área de exhibición de la obra sobre la cartelera espectacular es de 13 x 6 metros (ancho x alto). El formato de la cartelera es rectangular, y se busca que las obras entregadas por las y los artistas tengan orientación horizontal.

¿CÓMO APLICAR?

Las y los aplicantes deberán llenar un formulario en línea con todos los campos obligatorios*

• Biografía del artista (Máximo 250 palabras)*
• Declaración de artista (Máximo 250 palabras)*
• Página web/portafolio
• Nombre de usuario en Instagram
• Una a tres imágenes en formato .tiff o .jpg (máximo de 10MB y 300 dpi en tamaño)*
• Detalles de las obras enviadas (Nombre, medio, dimensiones, año)*
• Descripción individual de las obras enviadas*

Su aplicación debe ser enviada antes de la fecha límite a través del formulario en línea aquí.

SELECCIÓN Y DIFUSIÓN DE LAS OBRAS

El consejo curatorial de Benito Greene junto con la Curadora Invitada seleccionarán las obras a exponer éste año.

Los nombres de las y los artistas que resulten seleccionados serán dados a conocer a más tardar la tercera semana de Abril 2025. Posteriormente, se coordinará la entrega de un archivo digital con la imagen en alta resolución de su pieza a exponer, y una carta de autorización de uso de imagen de su obra.

Si la obra es seleccionada, Benito Greene Arte Público cubrirá los gastos de producción de la instalación de la pieza, incluida la impresión, montaje y arrendamiento de la cartelera espectacular en caso de ser necesario. La ubicación exacta de la cartelera y la fecha en que será instalada se determinará en forma aleatoria.

Benito Greene Arte Público promoverá ampliamente las campañas en sus redes sociales y página web.

Benito Greene Arte Público invites you to participate in the Arte en Escala Urbana 6th Edition open call. Artists of all backgrounds, nationalities, and ages are welcome to participate.

ABOUT BENITO GREENE

Benito Greene Arte Público emerged in 2019 with the purpose of bringing contemporary art to the community of Ciudad Juárez. By utilizing existing urban elements, Benito Greene presents public art in an organic and casual manner, specifically on the canvas of billboards.

This project aims to showcase artistic works that evoke the experience of observing and living within multiple physical and symbolic borders. Therefore, it is essential in this project to promote the work of emerging artists from all nationalities who are interested in exploring the potential of public art.

Benito Greene Arte Público has undertaken the task of facilitating community interaction in Ciudad Juárez, contributing to its diversity and resilience.

THEME

For its sixth edition of Arte en Escala Urbana, Benito Greene Arte Público invites artists to submit works that explore “shapeshifting” in its many forms—physical, emotional, cultural, and metaphorical. Shapeshifting embodies the fluidity of existence, the transformative power to move between worlds, and the constant evolution of identity and form. Whether drawn from personal experiences, mythology, or material processes, this open call encourages artists to investigate the boundaries between the self, the physical world, and the spaces we inhabit. From the subversion of conventional identities, to the transformation of appearances in dreams and rituals, and the reshaping of built environments, shapeshifting reflects both complexity and resilience. We seek works that challenge perception, defy fixed labels, and invite viewers to reconsider what is real, what is imagined, and what is possible.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Artists of all backgrounds, experience levels, and mediums can apply. Nationality or age will not be considered in the selection process.

WHY APPLY?

The selected artists will exhibit their work on billboards located on the main roads of Ciudad Juárez. The artworks will be seen by an average of over 25,000 people per day, including residents from the neighboring cities of Juárez and El Paso, Texas.

GUIDELINES

Deadline for project submission: March 17, 2025, before 11:59 PM Ciudad Juárez time (MDT).

Benito Greene Arte Público allows all artistic techniques. The artworks must be submitted in a digital file that will be printed and installed on an outdoor billboard. The artworks must be original works, and the artists must have the rights to their work.

The dimensions of the exhibition area in the billboard are 13 x 6 meters (width x height). The billboard is rectangular, and it is intended that the artworks delivered by the artists consider a landscape orientation.

Applicants must fill out an online form with all the required fields*.

SELECTION AND DISSEMINATION OF WORKS

The curatorial board of Benito Greene, along with the Guest Curator, will select the artworks to be exhibited this year.

The names of the selected artists will be announced no later than the third week of April 2025. Subsequently, arrangements will be made to submit a high-resolution digital file of the chosen artwork and a letter of authorization for image usage.

If your artwork is selected, Benito Greene Arte Público will cover the production expenses for installing the piece, including printing, mounting, and, if necessary, leasing the billboard. The billboard's exact location and installation date will be determined randomly.

Benito Greene will extensively promote the campaigns on its social media platforms and website.
