Benito Greene Arte Público es un proyecto de Jorge Urias Studio que tiene como objetivo llevar el arte contemporáneo a la comunidad juarense. El nombre se desarrolla a partir de la combinación del que fuera presidente de México y por el que Ciudad Juárez fue nombrada: Benito Juárez; así como del barrio de Fort Greene en Brooklyn, Nueva York. Representando así las dos ciudades donde se encuentra ubicado el estudio.

El proyecto inicia en el año 2019 con la instalación de la primera obra de arte y con el lanzamiento de la convocatoria abierta “Arte en Escala Urbana”, donde se invita a artistas a participar enviando una propuesta (pintura, dibujo, maqueta, fotografía, poesía, arte digital) para ser instalada en espectaculares sobre las principales vialidades de la ciudad.

Las obras y los artistas son seleccionados por curadores invitados del ámbito local, nacional e internacional. Benito Greene Arte Público cuenta con el apoyo de un equipo y consejo curatorial integrado por profesionistas con experiencia en arte, museografía, exposiciones internacionales, academia y arquitectura, que aportan su tiempo al proyecto de manera voluntaria.

Actualmente Ciudad Juárez padece de un déficit cultural, por lo que es necesario que la sociedad se relacione con el arte y la cultura de manera cotidiana. Las personas que interactúan con el arte ayudan a las comunidades a prosperar. Guiado por esta motivación, Benito Greene Arte Público, se ha dado a la tarea de utilizar elementos urbanos existentes para presentar el arte público en la ciudad de una forma innovadora y casual.

ABOUT

Benito Greene Arte Público is a project by Jorge Urias Studio that aims to bring contemporary art to the community of Juarez. The name is developed from the combination of the former president of Mexico and for whom Ciudad Juárez was named: Benito Juárez; as well as the Fort Greene neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. Thus representing the two cities where the studio is located.

The project begins in 2019 with the installation of the first work of art and with the launch of the open call "Arte en Escala Urbana", where artists are invited to participate by sending a proposal (painting, drawing, models, photography, poetry, digital art) to be installed in billboards on the main roads of the city.

The works and the artists are selected by invited curators from the local, national and international level. Benito Greene Arte Público has the support of a team and curatorial board integrated by professionals with experience in art, museography, international exhibitions, academia and architecture, who voluntarily contribute their time to the project.

Ciudad Juárez currently suffers from a cultural deficit, which is why it is necessary for society to relate to art and culture on a daily basis. People who interact with art help communities thrive. Guided by this motivation, Benito Greene Arte Público, has taken on the task of using existing urban elements to present public art in the city in an innovative and casual way.

Benito Greene Arte Público cuenta con el apoyo de un consejo curatorial formado por un equipo de profesionistas con experiencia en arte, museografía, exposiciones internacionales, academia y arquitectura, que aportan su tiempo al proyecto de manera voluntaria.
